IN NAESEN’S OWN WORDS

Verbatim from Benji Naesen’s appearances on the podcast.

I think the actual catalyst was just all that combining and me coming to the thought process of if I'm 50, I don't want to look back at my late 20s and realize that I didn't get the best out of that period and wasn't my best self during that period. And I think the realization of that sentence, that idea is what triggered it for me.

The more and more as time goes on, the more time that I spend in the industry, whether it's podcasting about the industry, talking to writers in the industry, talking with media professionals in the industry, or even on like actual traditional media stations and so forth when I'm invited there, the more experiences I have, the more I will lose that impostor syndrome.

I feel like the traditional media that we are speaking about, I often fear that the stuff that they write is also from an idea of okay I can't step on the toes of these riders on the toes of these teams and so forth because those teams and those riders might reduce the access that we have to those teams and riders in the future. I think that's an idea that really is real in the space of cycling journalism.
