Folks, I'm absolutely heartbroken. I believe Perry Ruby is gonna be canceled this season. What the fuck? Let's cue that intro! The big question is this. How do we use cycling as a tool to improve our health, our happiness, and our long changes? That is the question. This podcast will give you the answers. My name is Anthony Walsh, and welcome to the Row Man Podcast. Roman welcome back to another roadman cyclone podcast thanks for joining me again today. I had intended on an entirely different topic for today and I was flicking through cyclone news and I seen the news that Pari Roubaix looks like it's going to be canceled for this season. I literally was only chatting yesterday about how I'm looking forward to Pari Roubaix that it's my favorite race of the season and this bombshell drops. So Saelyn Nils has broke the story that a local politician in the area who is responsible for whether to raise roles or doesn't role says that it's increasingly unlikely that it's going to go ahead. That's what I want to talk about today in heartbroken fashion. Before I do, I'm going to give you a reminder to head across to patreon.com. The link is in the bio. It's patreon.com forward slash Anthony underscore watch. That's where you can buy me the price of a beer once a month to thank me for this content to keep the show on the road. It's such an important time for us all to have that shift from big brands, your McDonald's, your Starbucks, your Insomniers into local. And I think COVID has given us all a realization that local stuff we enjoy, we listen to, we participate in, it doesn't stay around forever. These things have to remain profitable and somebody always has an opportunity cost of what else they could be doing instead of creating content, serving you coffee. So when that opportunity cost lines up, they just jump ship and we don't get to preserve the things that we love. So I'm hoping the romance podcast is something that stays around for a long, long time to come. But for that to happen, I need you guys to get behind it and support the podcast. You can do it up by telling friends about it. You can do it by sharing it into your club WhatsApp and you can do it by buying me a coffee or a beer over on patreon.com. Okay, folks. So a local politician, it was Michael Lanada and he's the head of the Hulte-France region. So he appeared on a blue radio station on Monday morning and he was asked directly about Pari Rubé on April 11th. His quote is, it's an excellent question. Thanks for asking. I promise you to Scoop Winders and answer, but you can guess what that would be. I see the sky being a little less blue at the moment. Yeah, very cryptic, very French. But yeah, he sort of went on to say he just doesn't see how they're going to be able to lift restrictions. They're in an area of France that they're running through a lot of these sectors where case numbers are on the Royas and France has implemented new lockdown measures. And they even put it to him saying like this classics like the three days of the pioneer are going ahead in Belgium despite similar case numbers and he like flabbergast that said you'll have to explain the logic of this to me with safety measures and everything I just can't see it he said. So it will be absolutely gawting for us to lose Pari Rube, one of my favorite races of the season and look if I was kind of debating and starting to think about my peri rubae prediction because tomorrow I'm going to do a predictions podcast. I was thinking about who is the favorite for peri rubae and again it's just hard to look past Wout Van Ert and Machu Vanderpaul but I see Sagen coming back into a bit of form so I see in that treeway battle being super interesting and with Jasper Stoyvens who's fresh off the back of winning Milan San Remo he typically is a very good rubae roider and he's coming into a trek team which is just galvanized and momentum upon momentum at the moment even in the females side of the team. So yeah it's I'll just be absolutely gutted like the week of Roubaix it's on the 11th sort of week before that it's the only time I ever checked the weather forecast in a part of the world where I am and currently are I'm currently traveling and you just pray for that wet Roubaix and we all remember them images if you haven't seen them go back on YouTube and check it out, the images of George Hinkapi in US Postal Days. I'm gonna say it was like 1999, two tales in the round then. Like we've mapped white and stuff who we've had on the podcast, the director from bike exchange. We've him riding for US Postal and it's just carnage. Guys can stay on their bike. They're slipping and sliding everywhere. But the drama is brilliant. You could be in the Ford Group on the road and you're coming back in your front of the bike race and it's just one of those races that steeped in romanticism and history and you never know what way it's going to go. So I'll be absolutely gut. This is a story I'll definitely be following close and apologies I didn't bring you to schedule podcast for today but it was just I couldn't get this out of my head as soon as I seen the story and that rhubae was in danger for this season. It's a story I'm going to keep following because I really really care about this race. My favorite race of the season and I'm going to keep you post it on upcoming podcasts. Folks, join me tomorrow. I'm going to do a full feature lent podcast solo cast as the cool kids call it. We're going to talk about just my cycle and predictions for 2021 and some of them are going to shock and surprise you.
