WHO IT SUITS

Either the surviving sprinters or a punchy late attacker. Three ascents of the cobbled Butte Montmartre have turned the old procession into a real race.

WHAT TO WATCH

The final climb of Montmartre. A strong puncheur can attack over the top and hold off the bunch to the Champs-Élysées, exactly as the finale was designed to allow.

Champagne early for the GC winner, then a genuine fight. Expect a late attack off Montmartre to challenge the sprinters' teams — the processional Paris finish is gone.
