WHO IT SUITS

The pure climbers and the GC favourites. The first summit finish of the race is the first honest look at who has the legs.

WHAT TO WATCH

Whether the favourites mark each other into a stalemate or one of them tests the water on the 11km Col du Calvaire. Early-week nerves and fresh legs make for cagey racing.

The first real GC time gaps of the Tour, even if only seconds. Whoever among Pogačar, Vingegaard and Evenepoel shows their hand here sets the tone for the rest of the Pyrenees.
