DELOAD WEEK

A planned period of reduced training stress. A 40-60% volume reduction is a practical starting range, but the timing and size should be adjusted to the athlete.

Training creates both adaptation and fatigue. A deload reduces the training input so the next block can begin from a more manageable fatigue state. Three loading weeks followed by one deload is a coaching template rather than a universal physiological rule; recent load, health, sleep, life stress and training response should shape the decision.
