Most under-utilised performance tool in amateur cycling. Evidence-based: reduce volume 40-60% over 10-14 days, maintain 2-3 short high-intensity sessions, keep final 2-3 days very light. Expected gain: 2-4%. Key mistake: reducing intensity during taper. Keep intensity; only drop volume.
