ACUTE:CHRONIC WORKLOAD RATIO (ACWR)

Ratio of recent load (7 days) to chronic load (28 days). Above 1.5 = dangerous spike. 0.8-1.3 is optimal.

When acute load spikes above 1.5× chronic, injury and illness risk increases. Happens after holidays, training camps, or returning from illness. TrainingPeaks ATL/CTL ratio approximates ACWR. Key: ramp load no more than 10% per week.
