That is the question. And this podcast will give you the answers. My name is Anthony Walsh and welcome to the Rowman Podcast. Well, man, welcome back to another roadman cycling podcast, the stage three of the Giro d'Italia and this year's Giro definitely isn't disappointed. I say it again and again and again. It is my favorite race of the season. It's just crazy. Anything can happen in the Giro. It doesn't have all the prim and proper sort of pump and ceremony that Tour de France has. It's a little bit wild. bit raw and it's just great television and today I had a really Irish Ross stage race feel to anyone that's ridden or observed the Ross will know what I mean it was raining it was undulating and it was just a difficult difficult race to control. I'm gonna jump into all that and everything that happened in stage three but before I do I want to remind everyone about Patreon during the Jure of the Talia. Bradley Wiggins is no different, he has decided to announce that he's bringing out a documentary in 2022 being filmed at the moment, It's called 10 years after yellow and you know Wiggins is a man who we've watched on the brink of break down It looks at times if you follow his Instagram or if you even just Listen to the man. He's gone through close to bankruptcy dope and allegations broken marriages You know throwing some substance abuse there and you've got yourself a straight-up soap opera He had good some good quotes today and I'll read it out a couple before I jump into the stage tree because As I said, this is just a couple of stories breaking around now and he said I'm not gonna cast aspersions on any people. I know what I did and I know how I conduct myself. I know that doesn't help anyone in terms of getting somewhere, but one thing that I've learned and one thing that I'm studying at the moment is that people don't very often get away with things in life. You can't twist the fucking fabric of reality and life to the extent that you get away with it. Things come back to you, which you process I hope that it's not over yet. We might never know what happened, but I can't live in a time war and be bitter about it.

I've just got to continue what I do and enjoy myself. I can't walk around be grudging people and being bitter. It's not my hardest priority, it's not healthy. It's very cryptic and it's not entirely clear what he's talking about. Is he talking about a culture of doping at Team Sky and he was the only one that they really hung out to draw for this, you know, chiffy bag type saga? Is he eluding to the fact that Frohn was doing the exact same things as he was and he's painted as a villain and Frohn's painters a hero. I don't know and I don't speak the doubt documentaries kind of fucking tell us either because the lawy belaws are so strict and team sky and chris frill and anyone else involved is gonna be just you know they're gonna be fiercely defending their reputations so I don't suspect that wanes is gonna step two for our off-defense and tell us actually anything about testosterone gels, the free minifur, Shane Sultan. Shane Sultan is a man who I have in principle agreed to get on the podcast with. He's in China at the moment, so difficult to get him. So it will happen in the next couple of months, but just not sure when China has some weird apps banned that it's not really possible to chat to him on some apps. Anyway, story for another day. Stage three, folks. 190 kilometers from Biela to Kanal. today we had a third category climb and two forward category climbs. We'd call it rolling undulating park horrors. We had eight riders in the breakaway. They basically went off the line bearing raincapes and you could tell who didn't want to race because they had the flappy raincapes on. And yeah, as I said, proper men of the Ross day and the break went out and got a max of six minutes and the sprinter's teams signaled their attention and probably this was another one we could have pre-recorded the early part of this podcast because predictably enough Bora went to work over those categorized climbs to tin down the peloton, put a really difficult tempo, a lot of the good sprinters don't seem to be able to climb as well as Peter Sagan. So when Bora hit the front and put on a very difficult tempo he's losing almost all of his sprint rivals. So that's what Bora did, they really turned up the he's forced on Caleb Yoon who got boiled to death, then Dylan ground away again and then yesterday's winner Tim Malik all dropped. The race was frantic in the valleys on those categories, and with 15km to go, if I'm honest, I wouldn't have put a yorel on that breakaway stand clear. They had 50 seconds with 15km to go and with 30 seconds to go, when Taco Vanderhorn, a a man at a Ross, a yellow jersey wearing the Ross, and I rode the Ross that year as well. Like, gonna say it was 2017, 2017 or 2018 he wore yellow in the Ross. He struck out, and as a former man at a Ross, I was definitely rooting for him. He struck out with 10K to go, and honestly it looked suicidal. I couldn't understand why he wouldn't ride with his fellow escapee who was cooperating and sharing the pace quite well. But it turns out we had a lot of, hit some sort of jet-powered rocket propulsion fuel in his legs when he struck out. Because he struck out when he only had 30 seconds to go with 10k to go. And something interesting happened behind then. The little game of politics backfired on the bunch and we don't see this off. Boer had worked all day. They were running out of horsepower. And Boer had now played this game where, because they'd run out of horsepower, they weren't going to sacrifice their lead out men. So they looked to the other sprinters teams.

They looked to Gewehria's UAE. They looked to Kofedus for Vivian, who were still in the bunch. And they got limited cooperation. And when they did get cooperation, in case of Hoobling's forced, we've seen it just too little, too late. And Tockel van der Horn, he secured an absolutely memorable grand tour stage win on his first ever grand tour start. And Wonti Group Gewehr's first ever grand tour start. a super famous victory and David Chimalay from Israel's start up nation behind won the bunch of Gallop in for a second with Sagan already shown that he's going to be super, super consistent toward today after 50 yesterday Viviani fought and another man on a rough stage winner, Bevan coming in fifth which was a great result. Viviani after the stage noticeably pissed off, he said he had a lot of fatigue on the climb today and it was for absolutely noting. Our stage winner he just looked absolutely so trailed and who can blame him. He courseed a couple of times in the interview which he hasn't gone through the polished media training to see the Innio's boys going through which is in itself very refreshing and he conceded that he is going to be on off and having a few beers and celebrating tonight so don't be surprised to be seeing him out the back early tomorrow. He said I can't believe it I I just wanted to go on the break today and be aggressive in the Jiro all day. It was difficult to even get to the front and to win a stage or to get to the finish line with that group are also very difficult. A little bit incoherent there, but what can you say? The man just won a stage in the Jiro, he's entitled to be a bit incoherent. The GC hasn't changed a lot. We have Italian dreamboat, hunk of a man carved out of some sort of fine mahogany as leading the race, Felipe Bogana, 16 seconds ahead of Fos and 20, Felipe Bogana is 20 seconds ahead of Remko Evan Paul who's at 20 seconds but honestly GC doesn't really mean shit at the moment. Tomorrow is our first GC shakeup stage four, it's our first uphill finish where we're gonna go from Palenza tomorrow into Cestole and if you remember last time we went to Sistole. I think he was riding with Birdie Annie. We had Chaconi now riding for Trek, really striking out Anne, making her name for himself. It was the first time I don't like Chaconi. I've said it before, he looks like a little prick, but it was the first time all you notice that Chaconi was a little prick was when he struck out for that stage and I thought I just don't like his head.
