Course Overview
Widely regarded as England's hardest sportive. The Fred Whitton passes over nine Lake District passes including Hardknott and Wrynose — the steepest roads in England, with sections exceeding 30% gradient. There is no shame in walking. The route is visually stunning and brutally demanding in equal measure. Named after Fred Whitton, a much-loved cyclist who died in 1998.
