SWEAT RATE

Volume of sweat produced per hour of exercise. Measured by pre/post-ride weighing. Typical range: 0.5-2.5 litres per hour.

Sweat rate is individual, trainable, and context-dependent. Heavy sweaters (>1.5L/hour) need aggressive hydration. Heat acclimation increases sweat rate while reducing sodium concentration. To measure: weigh nude pre-ride, ride 1 hour at race pace, weigh nude post-ride, add consumed fluid. Test in multiple conditions.
