TTE (TIME TO EXHAUSTION)

The duration a cyclist can sustain power at FTP before fatigue forces them to stop. Typically 30-70 minutes for trained cyclists. A key predictor of time-trial and breakaway performance.

TTE complements FTP: two riders with the same FTP but different TTE have very different race capabilities. A rider with 280W FTP and 60-minute TTE will outlast a rider with 280W FTP and 35-minute TTE in any sustained effort. TTE is trainable through extended threshold intervals (20-40 minutes at 95-100% FTP) and progressive overload of sustained efforts.
