ALTITUDE TRAINING (LIVE HIGH, TRAIN LOW)

Sleeping at altitude (1,800-2,500m) to stimulate red blood cell production. The 'live high, train low' model maximises haematological gains while maintaining training intensity.

Stimulates EPO production, increasing haemoglobin mass over 3-4 weeks. Optimal: sleep at 2,000-2,500m, train below 1,200m. Expected benefit: 1-3% sea-level improvement lasting 2-4 weeks after descent. Altitude tents simulate this at home. ~50% of athletes are 'responders'.
